Owls Hockey Sweeps MASCAC Weekly Awards
Westfield State junior forward Gianluca Marini was named player of the week, goaltender Kevin Chandler earned the league’s goaltender of the week, and first- year forward Cooper Board was named Rookie of the Week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State hockey players swept the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly honors this week.
Westfield State junior forward Gianluca Marini (Lighthouse Point, Florida) was named player of the week, goaltender Kevin Chandler (Hanover, Mass) earned the league's goaltender of the week, and first- year forward Cooper Board (Salem, Mass). was named Rookie of the Week.
Westfield State junior forward Gianluca Marini (Lighthouse Point, Florida) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week as he tallied a goal and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Owls. Marini netted the game-winning goal late and added an assist in the 3-2 win at UMass Dartmouth, as well adding an assist in the 3-1 win at Post University.
Goalie of the Week Kevin Chandler (Hanover, Mass) made 35 saves while allowing just one goal in the Owls' 3-1 win over Post University. Chandler totaled a .972 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA in the win.
Cooper Board locked in MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors after he scored the game-winner in the Owls' 3-1 win over Post University. Board added an assist in the 3-2 conference win at UMass Dartmouth.
Westfield (9-9-1, 5-7 MASCAC) is set to host a conference matchup against Plymouth State on Thursday with puck drop set for 7:35 P.M. at Amelia Park Arena in Westfield, Mass.
