Valtonen Recognized as MASCAC Goalie of The Week
Westfield State University junior goalie Valtteri Valtonen is recognized by the MASCAC as Goalie of the Week for his performance in a 2-1 Owls' victory over Anna Maria on Thursday, November 3 at Amelia Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University Junior goalie Valtteri Valtonen (Helsinki, Finland) is recognized this week by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference as ice hockey goalie of the week, for his performance in a 2-1 Owls' victory against Anna Maria on Thursday, November 3.
Valtonen delivered a showstopping 35 saves on 36 total shots, good for a .972 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average for the Owls in their only game of the week.
This season, Valtonen has totaled 117 saves, conceding only seven goals through three games, posting a 2.32 goals against average and a .944 save percentage.
Valtonen and the Westfield State University ice hockey team will face off next against the Plymouth State Panthers on Thursday, November 10 at 7:35 P.M. from Amelia Park in Westfield, Mass. for the conference opener.
