Westfield, Mass-- Senior forward Daniel Backstrom (Helsinki, Finland) was named this past week's Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, sponsored by Geico.

Backstrom notched a hat trick in the 3-2 MASCAC Tournament quarterfinal win over Salem State, including the game winning shot with 10 seconds left, scoring all three goals in a 15 minute range in the third period.

The Owls will return Tuesday March 3 at Plymouth State for the MASCAC semifinal game. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
