Rogers adds all-district first team honors to a plethora of other yearly accolades after an outstanding sophomore season with the Owls.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore forward Kenney Rogers (Springfield, Mass.) was recently named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-District first team for district one as voted on by NABC-member coaches across Division III.
Rogers' all-district first team honors is just the most recent yearly accolade awarded to the sophomore forward who joined the D3hoops.com All-Region team for a second consecutive year after being named the Regional Rookie of the Year last season. He was also named the MASCAC Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons, topping the 1,000-point scoring mark while also setting the single-game program record for points scored in a game with 53, snapping a 57-year old record.
Rogers finished the season second in the MASCAC in points (20.1) and total assists (124) and was top five in rebounds per game at 8.0. In conference play, Rogers increased his scoring to 22.5 points per game in 14 games. He is one of six players named to the first team and one of 11 players in district one that earned a spot on the all-district team.
In his first two seasons with the Owls, Rogers is already 22nd on the all-time scoring list with 1,060 career points in 55 games played.
Westfield State finished the season with a 21-6 overall record, tying for the fourth-most wins in a season in program history while reaching the MASCAC Championship game for a second straight season.
