Rogers Named MASCAC Player of the Week
The sophomore forward averaged nearly 30 points per game across a pair of Owls victories this past week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore forward Kenney Rogers (Springfield, Mass.) brought home conference weekly honors after a dominant week on the court as he was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player of the Week.
Rogers averaged 29.5 points per game, six rebounds, three assists, and shot an efficient 55.6 percent from the field in a pair of conference victories for the Owls this past week. On Saturday, he logged a career high 32 points and grabbed eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in an 87-65 win at Salem State. Rogers also added a 27-point effort with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and a blocked shot during a 101-72 victory at Bridgewater State.
For the season, Rogers is currently in the top five in the MASCAC in points, rebounds, and assists. His 18.4 points per game ranks second in the conference while he leads the MASCAC in assists (81) and is fifth in rebounds per game (8.2). Rogers scoring has increased in league action, piling up 21.8ppg over six MASCAC matchups thus far.
He has registered 20 or more points 22 times in 45 career games played including seven already this season. In not even two full seasons, the sophomore forward is closing in on 1,000 career points and sits at 830 points.
Westfield State, which is tied for first in the MASCAC at 5-1, will wrap up a three-game road trip on Wednesday as the Owls visit Fitchburg State for a 7:00 P.M. tip-off before returning home this weekend.
