Andrade Named MASCAC Rookie of the Week
Andrade earned conference rookie honors a week removed from being named the NFHCA national Offensive Player of the Week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year forward Caroline Andrade (Watertown, Mass.) continues to make a major impact in her first season with the Owls as she was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week after putting together another strong week for Westfield field hockey.
A week removed from being named the NFHCA national Offensive Player of the Week and MASCAC Player of the Week, Andrade tallied a three-goal effort in a 6-1 victory over Framingham State to help secure a program-record ninth straight win with the Owls improving to 7-0 in the conference and 11-3 overall.
On the season, Andrade has scored at least one goal in five of her last six games and has vaulted into the top five of MASCAC scorers with nine goals. Her 21 points also ranks fifth in the conference ranks.
Westfield State enters the back half of regular season schedule with four games remaining, all against MASCAC opponents starting tonight as the Owls travel to Worcester State for a 7:00 P.M. start time. The Owls currently hold the top spot in the MASCAC standings while the Lancers enter the game in fourth place with a 3-3 league mark. Westfield defeated Worcester in the first meeting of the season, a 2-1 win at home on September 20.
