Pires Wins Second Consecutive Rookie Of The Week

WESTFIELD, MASS. – Westfield State University junior quarterback Colby Pires (Milford, Mass.) obtained his second Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of The Week award for his performance against Western Connecticut State this past Friday.
Pires completed 24 out of his 37 attempts for a total of 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 34-20 loss against Western Connecticut State.
Pires has completed a 58% of his passes (37 of 63) for a total of 419 yards and three touchdowns.
This marks the third time this season a Westfield State University football player has won the MASCAC Rookie of The Week Honors, Pires winning twice and Bearett Henderson winning once for his defensive performance in the season opener against Nichols College.
The Westfield State Owls will play head-to-head next Saturday (9/24) against the Framingham State Rams on Alumni Field at 2:00 PM.
