Bio

Garrett Baker enters his second year on the Westfield State coaching staff as the pitching coach for the 2019 season. Baker played collegiate baseball for the NCAA Division II Cedarville Yellow Jackets before signing a contract with the New Hampshire Wild of the Empire Baseball League, where he led the team in starts and in innings pitched. He played a second season of pro ball for the Tucson Saguaros as well.

His past coaching experience includes stints at East Longmeadow and Suffield High School. He served as an off-season pitching coach and developmental team head coach at Dream Bat Company from 2015-17. He was also a volunteer youth baseball coach for the Springfield Indians from 2009-2014.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Bible from Cedarville University in Ohio. He is a certified strength and conditioning (CSCS) coach and baseball instructor at Powerhouse Training in East Longmeadow, Ma. In addition to working with the pitching staff, Baker is the strength and conditioning coach for the Owl baseball program.

Baker interned for Enhance U Sports Academy in Vandalia, OH where he assisted in youth group/individual sports training. Baker is currently finishing his Master’s Degree in sport and exercise psychology at Springfield College.
