Burnett Named to D3baseball.com All-America Fifth Team
Named to the All-America team after an historic season at the plate for Westfield.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – After putting together an historic season at the plate for Westfield State, senior Dan Burnett (Granville, Mass.) was named to the D3baseball.com All-America Fifth Team.
Burnett, who was most recently named to the ABCA/Rawlings Division III Region 2 First Team and D3baseball.com All-Region First Team, capped his Owls career with his most productive season of his three-year stint with Westfield.
The senior utility man batted .410 with 14 home runs, 12 doubles, five triples, and 61 runs batted in, leading the MASCAC with an .856 slugging percentage and 30 extra base hits while finishing top three in the conference ranks in batting average, hits, doubles, triples, RBI, home runs, and on-base percentage.
Burnett set single-season program records in home runs, runs batted in, and total bases while placing second in runs scored. He recorded at least one hit in 34 of 38 games on the year and tallied at least one extra base hit in half of his games played.
A two-time All-Region recipient, Burnett's seasonal accomplishments do not stop there as he was selected to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team for the second time in his career. He was also presented with the Westfield State Athletic Department Male Athlete of the Year award at the University's annual awards ceremony.
A transfer from then Division I Hartford University, Burnett piled up a highly productive and impactful career in an 80-game stretch across three seasons. He finished tied for third in program history in career home runs with 23, tallying a career .378 batting average with 113 hits, 94 RBI, and program-record .736 slugging percentage.
