WESTFIELD, Mass. – Seven Westfield State baseball players were selected to the 2025 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Team with seniors' Dan Burnett (Granville, Mass.), Nick Marshall (Reading, Mass.), and Sam Palmer (Medfield, Mass.) along with sophomore Sean McNamara (Lowell, Mass.) earning first-team honors.
Earning a spot on the all-conference second team were infielders Robison Baez (Dominican Republic) and Devin Slattery (Ware, Mass.) as well as reliever Michael Hall (Westfield, Mass.).
Burnett was at or near the top of every major statistical category on offense as he leads the MASCAC with 57 runs batted in while currently holding the second spot in batting average (.415) and home runs (13). Burnett's individual season has been record setting as he set the single season program records for home runs and runs batted in for a season and is also tied for the school record with 115 total bases entering conference tournament play. Burnett has now been named to the all-conference first team in both seasons with Westfield.
Also earning his second all-conference first team nod of his career is Marshall who enters the MASCAC Tournament after a torrid finish to the season which vaulted him into all-conference status as the league's designated hitter. On the season, Marshall has a slash line of .333/.448/.650 with eight home runs and 33 RBI. In conference play, his numbers jump up to a .431 batting average with a .554 on-base and an even .800 slugging percentage.
Joining Burnett and Marshall on the offensive side of the ball is Palmer who earned first-team outfielder honors for the third time in his career after finishing top five in the MASCAC in both home runs (nine) and stolen bases (15). He enters the conference tournament with a .324 batting average and a .400 on-base with the second-most RBI for the Owls with 40.
McNamara was named to the all-conference first team as a starter in his sophomore year with Westfield primarily due to his swing-and-miss ability as he is second in the MASCAC with 74 strikeouts, including one of the most dominant outings of the season for any pitcher in the league where he fanned 16 in a complete-game, one-hit shutout against Worcester State earlier in the year. His five wins are tied for third in the league.
Baez was named to the all-conference second team at second base, displaying flashes of power and speed at the top of the Owls lineup. He is fourth on an Owls team that has produced 51 home runs, connecting for five round trippers while stealing 11 bases and hitting at a .337 average and a .663 slugging percentage. His five triples are second in the MASCAC.
Slattery received second team honors at third base this season, serving as one of the most productive hitters in the middle of the Owls lineup. He currently owns a .356 batting average and a .472 on-base percentage, racking up 42 hits and 27 runs batted in. His plate discipline is what makes Slattery one of the toughest hitters to retire as he walked 21 times compared to only 11 strikeouts.
Rounding up the Owls all-conference selections is Hall who received all-conference second team honors as a reliever. Hall leads the league with six saves, making 14 appearances out of the Owls bullpen while holding a 3-1 record.
Westfield State (26-11, 13-8 MASCAC) enter the 2025 MASCAC Tournament as the third overall seed and will face sixth seeded Framingham State in an elimination game tomorrow at 1:00 P.M. from Buzzards Bay, Mass. with the winner advancing to face second-seeded Mass. Maritime in the double elimination portion of the bracket at 5:00 P.M.
