Owls Athletics Set for Busy Easter Weekend
The Owls have an action-packed Easter ahead of them as all spring sports are in action over a two-day span including a special senior day doubleheader for softball.

Softball vs Framingham – 12:00 P.M. (Senior Day)

Men's and Women's Track and Field at Trinity Invitational – 10:30 A.M.
Softball vs Framingham
Westfield softball will take on Framingham State in a doubleheader at home for senior day that starts at noon. This is a rematch of last year's MASCAC championship game and both teams are currently tied for first in the conference standings, both entering at 5-1 in the MASCAC.
The Westfield offense is batting an unbelievable .388 average as a team as Hannah Wodecki (Southampton, Mass.) leads the team with a .480 average, fourth best in the MASCAC. Wodecki's 27 runs batted in is the second best in the MASCAC. The Owls have four of the top five run producers in the conference. Katherine Canty (Natick, Mass.) has been an ace for the Owls this season as she is second in the MASCAC in ERA (2.10), wins (nine), and strikeouts (58). Playoff implications will be on the line in the matchup with an inside track to the top overall seed in the balance.
Westfield State Athletics will honor seniors Sarah Bingham, Katherine Canty, and Gianna Conte in between the two games.
Baseball vs Framingham
Baseball kicks off the Easter weekend for Westfield as they head to Framingham State on Friday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. for the first game of a three-game series. The two teams head back to Bud and Jim Hagan Field for a doubleheader on Saturday that starts at noon.
The Rams took the season series in 2024 winning two games to Westfield's one. The Owls offense has been outstanding thus far in the year as they average a .321 batting average as a team. Dan Burnett (Granville, Mass.) is the leader in batting average for the Owls with a .396 batting average, fourth in the MASCAC, he also is second in runs batted in with 40 and third in the MASCAC in home runs with eight. Jack Novak (Colchester, Mass.) is the current ERA leader for Westfield with a 2.63 ERA, which is currently the best in the league. Mike Hall (Westfield, Mass.) is the closer for the Owls as he leads the conference in saves with five in 9.0 innings pitched.
Women's Lacrosse at Fitchburg
Women's lacrosse also plays this weekend as they head to Fitchburg State on Friday night at 6:00 pm. Emma Prattson (Tolland, Conn.) is the current point and assist leader for the Owls with 52 points (21 G, 31A). Those numbers earned her second best in the conference in assists and fourth best in points. Kylie Buchanan (Westfield, Mass.) is the scoring leader for Westfield as she has netted 36 goals for the Owls, good for sixth in the MASCAC. The Owls have been mixing up goal keeping responsibilities this season but Kara Banagan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) has played the most amount of games at 11. Banagan has given up 71 goals against her this year, that's the second lowest in the conference and has accumulated a 47.8 save percentage, fourth best in the league.
Men's and Women's Track and Field at Trinity
Men's and women's track and field follow up a successful home meet at the Trinity Invitational meet with events beginning at 10:30 am. John Nekitopoulos (West Springfield, Mass.) beat out his own teammate Rowan Gottshall (Simsbury, Conn.) by two one-hundredths of a second as he won the men's 800 meter dash. On the women's side, Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) showed up for the Owls as she captured wins in three separate events herself to help Westfield secure eight event wins.
