WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior catcher Nolan Florence (Chicopee, Mass.) has been added to the roster for the 49th annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Joe Walsh All-Star Game.
Florence will play as a member of the Division II/Division III team which faces the Division I all stars at Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford on Monday, June 3. First pitch for the game is at noon, with the gates opening at 10:30 a.m.
Florence graduates with a career .271 batting average, 18 home runs and 86 RBI as an Owl. His 18 career home runs have him tied for fifth on the Owls' all-time list, and he shares a school record with three home runs in a game, which he accomplished in a win over MCLA in 2022. He shattered the school record by being hit by pitches 51 times in his career.
Florence played with the Westfield Starfires in the NECBL during the summer of 2022.
The NEIBA game is a longstanding tradition, and has been played at various major and minor league ballparks around the region, including Fenway Park, LeLacheur Park in Lowell, and McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket before being hosted at DD Park in Hartford last season.
Florence is no stranger to DD Park. The Owls played an exhibition game against USJ there in 2023 and met again in a regular-season match up earlier this season.
