Marshall, Burnett Named to ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-Region Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State sophomore Nick Marshall (Reading, Mass.) and junior Dan Burnett (Granville, Mass.) each earned spots on the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Division III All-Region Teams – Region Two as voted on by the members of the ABCA.

Marshall was named to the All-Region Second Team with Burnett claiming a spot on the third team.

Marshall, who was named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team, finished top five in the league in home runs (10), RBIs (41), on-base percentage (.512), and slugging (.717). He led the Owls with a .362 batting average and walked a league-high 31 times. His ten home runs rank third on the program's all-time single season list.

Burnett, who also received placement on the MASCAC All-Conference First Team, piled up a .360 batting average with nine home runs and 33 RBI. He was second in the MASCAC with 15 doubles and 25 extra base hits and led Westfield with 54 hits overall. The junior infielder caught fire down the stretch as the Granville native batted .451 across the Owls final 20 games of the season.

A total of 46 student-athletes across region two were named to one of the three All-Region teams.

Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
