Nick Martin Named to ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior outfielder Nick Martin (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was recently named to the American Baseball Coaches Association / Rawlings 2022 Division All-Region Team.

Martin was a third-team choice on the Region 2 team.

He hit .351 with seven home runs, 12 doubles, driving in 34 runs and scoring a school-record 52 runs while typically hitting in the leadoff spot for the Owls.  He also led the team with 14 stolen bases against just one caught stealing.

Martin led the MASCAC in runs and with 25 walks, and ranked in the top five in the league in hits, doubles, home runs

He graduates with career totals of a .335 batting average, .446 on-base percentage, 29 doubles, three triples, eight home runs and 67 RBI.  He was a three-time all-MASCAC selection (no team was recognized in 2020) culminating with a first-team nod this year.

A transfer from Quinsigamond Community College, Martin played in parts of four seasons for the Owls, as the 2020 and 2021 seasons were both shortened due to the pandemic.

Westfield State finished the 2022 season with a 24-16 overall record and placed second in the MASCAC's regular season.
