WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State baseball won a pair of games last weekend, and extended it's winning streak to eight straight games, but the Owls slipped a spot in the weekly New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association poll.
Westfield checked in seventh in this week's poll.
The Owls swept Worcester State last weekend, improving to 13-1 on the season, and sit a top the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Standings with a perfect 6-0 mark to date.
Owls head coach Nathan Bashaw won his 200th career collegiate game, and his 150th game at Westfield State in the doubleheader.
The Owls next meet Bridgewater State in a pair of conference games on Friday at Bridgewater. Because of quirks and cancellations in the conference schedule due to pandemic protocols, the two teams will play eight consecutive games against each other over the next two weekends. Only the first two will count towards the league schedule and playoff seeding.
