Mission
The Westfield State College Athletic Training staff provides prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries sustained by our varsity athletes. The goal of our athletic training staff is to provide the highest quality Athletic Health Care to meet the needs of the NCAA Intercollegiate Athletics program and its student-athletes. The Staff Certified Athletic Trainers work diligently to provide these optimum services to athletes of Westfield State College.
Location: The WSC main athletic training room is located in the Woodward Center on campus across the hall from the main gymnasium/field house Visiting Teams: PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE if your team is traveling without an athletic trainer, especially if your team requires any special attention. We will be more than accommodating to your teams in providing pre-game taping. Visiting teams must supply their own tape and wraps. The use of moist heat by the athletes is available but must be pre-arranged by the visiting University/College.
Athletic Training Services
In addition to the Sports Medicine services provided to the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, the Athletic Training Services Department works in conjunction with the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) to provide outstanding clinical education experiences for the ATEP students.
Each semester several athletic training students are assigned to a Staff Certified Athletic Trainer who is also certified as an Approved Clinical Instructor (ACI). The athletic training student is assured a high quality and valuable learning experience while at the same time assisting the staff Certified Athletic Trainers in providing that same level of quality athletic health care to the student-athletes.
