BOSTON - The Westfield State women's cross country team placed ninth out of 32 teams in the Codfish Bowl Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Franklin Park.
Junior Julie Messinger was Westfield's top runner, placing 32nd in the 5,000 meter run in 20:08.6. Also earning points for the Owls were: sophomore Marissa Bonito (42nd) and freshmen Carolyn Connolly (53rd), Lynsay Wray (57th), and Rachael Cardin (62nd).
The Owls' top two runners - seniors Kerry Arouca and Ally Brown - did not compete.
Westfield is idle next Saturday, Oct. 3, and hosts the James Earley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Stanley Park.
