AMHERST - Eleven Westfield State athletes competed in the All New England (Divisions I, II, II) outdoor track and field championships on Friday and Saturday, May 8-9.
Juniors Marc Gomes and Brandon Palmer were Westfield's top finishers as both just missed earning All New England honors by placing ninth. Gomes sprinted to a personal best in the 400 meter dash in 48.65; nearly qualifying for the NCAA Division III national championships. Palmer triple jumped 44-8 1/4; the eighth place finisher triple jumped 44-9.
Gomes also placed 12th in the 200 (22.20) and was a member of the 400 relay team the placed 11th in 43.16. Other relay members were Michael Chapin, Todd Kittelson and James Flynn.

Anthony Stomski - 12th, hammer throw, 162-5.
Tyler Merchant - 14th, javelin, 174-6.
Brandon Palmer, 16th, 110 hurdles, 15.93.

Dylan Zukowski, 20th, 110 hurdles, 16.98.
Nathan Landry - 21st, shot put (42-1 1/4). In the hammer throw Landry fouled on all three attempts.
