NORTH DARTMOUTH - Freshman Kimi Schmidt finished first in the one and three-meter diving at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III championships at UMass Dartmouth Feb. 20-22.

Schmidt 'soutstanding performances led the Owls to an eighth-place finish in the 22-team championships with 446 points. Keene State won the team title with 899 points followed by Bentley (833) and Saint Michael's (514).

Schmidt, from Longmeadow, and her temmates dominated both diving events. Schmidt took the one-meter diving with 400.80 points and Westfield junior Ariana Mastro - last year's champion - was runner-up with 372.90 points. Also earning points for the Owls were Hannah Rees (6th), Steph Cooper (7th) and Monique Alarie (8th).

Schmidt was in total command on the three-meter board, racking up 421.45 points. Roger Williams' Carrie Naylor placed second with 355.90 points. Placing for the Owls were Rees (4th), Cooper (5th), Mastro (7th) and Alarie (9th).

In the pool, senior Kelly Johnson and junior Lindsey Malboeuf were the top swimmers. Johnson was seventh in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes and eighth in the 50 backstroke. Malboeuf finished fifth in the 50 backstroke and 10th in the 100 backstroke.

Senior Aimee Raposo was ninth in the 100 individual medley, 10th in the 50 breaskstroke and was a member of the ninth place 200 medley relay along with Malboeuf, Angie Wasylik and Jen Butler.

Senior Cairsten Beanland placed eighth in the 1650 freestyle.
