BOSTON - The Westfield State women's swimming and diving team opened its 2009-2010 season with a 161-130 victory over Simmons College on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The highlight of the meet was a new school record set by sophomore transfer Jenna Tasse (Sturbridge). Tasse placed second in the 50 freestyle but her time of 25.30 eclipsed the former school standard of 25.33 held by Vanessa Morton.
Tasse did place first in the 100 freestyle in 57.38. Double winners for Westfield were Kate Werner (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle), Lindsey Malboeuf (50 backstroke, 100 backstroke), and Kim Schmidt (one and three-meter diving).
Also finishing first were: Libby Stewart (1,000 freestyle), Lauren Connolly (50 breaststroke) and the 200 medley relay of Malboeuf, Lauren Pellegrine, Angie Wasylik, and Jenna Tasse.
