Ryan Kalish's Parents Are Westfield State Alumni

Westfield State baseball alumni visit with Boston Red Sox rookie outfielder Ryan Kalish and his family following a recent game. Left to right are: Bob Mayo, Bob Benn, Ryan Kalish, Steve Kalish (Ryan's father), Jack Mosko and Jake Kalish, Ryan's younger brother who is playing baseball at George Mason this year. Steve Kalish and Mosko were college roommates and 1978 Westfield State graduates. Ryan's mother, Eileen, graduated from Westfield in1981.
NOTE: The following article was written several weeks ago by Paul Harber, Ryan Kalish's uncle, for the Norton (Mass.) Mirror newspaper. Harber is a long-time sportswriter for the Boston Globe.

My nephew, Ryan Kalish, was brought up by the Red Sox on Saturday and made his major league debut.

Ben Wagner receives the Westfield athletics department's 2010 Outstanding Contributor Award from athletics director Richard Lenfest.
Ben Wagner played on three MASCAC championship baseball teams and appeared in three NCAA Tournaments. He was a four-time all-conference selection and the MASCAC rookie of the year.

Simply put, it’s been a great ride for Westfield State’s Hit King.
