WESTFIELD, Mass. – The foursome of Sean Fitzsimmons, Ryan Fitzsimmons, John Tedesco and Justin Santerre won the Second Annual Owl Club Golf Tournament on Monday, shooting a tournament-record 14-under par 57 at Tekoa Country Club.
The tournament raises money to support the varsity athletics program at Westfield State College. A total of 91 players participated on what proved to be a glorious day with sunny skies and moderate temperatures.
The team of Fitzsimmons, Fitzsimmons, Tedesco and Santerre tied for low score with the tournament-record round of 57, matching the score posted by Westfield State women’s soccer coach Todd Ditmar, who played with Dave Laporte, Kate Laporte, and Mike Lindsay. Ditmar had been part of the winning foursome a year earlier. The Fitzsimmons team was declared the winner after matching cards for the first three holes.
“I am really excited by the number of alumni, faculty, administrators, and friends of the college that came out to support our athletic program today,” said Richard Lenfest, director of athletics at Westfield State. “The money that we raise goes a long way to supporting the athletes in our program.”
